#1bru1vote citizens’ queries at three local councils (conseils communals) this week (Forest, Molenbeek, Ixelles)

Following a campaign launch in February which was a huge success in the Belgian and European press as well as on social media, the #1bru1vote movement and petition http://bit.ly/2ofMs5O have entered a new phase of outreach towards Brussels citizens and elected officials.

In early March, 19 local groups were launched in each of the 19 Brussels communes and these groups have begun to come forward with citizens’ queries (interpellations citoyennes) (http://urlz.fr/6Wg6). The first interpellation took place in Etterbeek in March with great success. Next up was St-Gilles (https://bit.ly/2F7RwPZ). The two Mayors (Bourgmestres), both important figures in the Brussels-Capital parliament, Vincent De Wolf (MR – https://bit.ly/2HnZsP3) and Charles Picqué (PS – https://bit.ly/2qRQvak), expressed their full support to the #1bru1vote movement! In addition, at the end of March, Françoise Schepmans, federal deputy and Mayor of Molenbeek Saint-Jean also expressed her full support (https://bit.ly/2Hj3Sut).

Similarly, the different political groups in St-Gilles gave their support to #1bru1vote by way of public declarations : for Ecolo https://bit.ly/2vAIZ8D, the CDh https://bit.ly/2Hh7JYW and the MR https://bit.ly/2HmnOJ4.
